According to the South Korea Electronics Times, the world's first LED plant, Guanghai Technology, which commercializes the LED heat sink technology COHS (Chips On Heat Sink), will invest 10 million US dollars in the construction line of South Korea's Gyeonggi Province. COHS is related to high-power LED heat dissipation. New technology, set up in South Korea, is expected to further penetrate the South Korean LED lighting market.
According to relevant industry players, Guanghai Technology is investing 10 million US dollars in the construction of LED packaging production line in the Multi Techno Valley in South Korea's Gyeonggi Province, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2011. The scale and specifications of the plant are still under discussion. It plans to build the R&D production line of Korea Industrial Technology University. Korea University of Technology and Technology will work with Guanghai Technology on COHS LED packaging.
Although Guanghai Technology has only been engaged in the LED business for only one year, it has long been known overseas for its COHS cooling technology. At present, Guanghai holds 47 COHS related patents, which is different from the COB (Chip On Board) package method in which single or multiple LED chips are directly packaged on the substrate. Guanghai Technology's products eliminate the need for chip and substrate. Unnecessary thermal resistance material, using copper as the substrate, has better thermal conductivity.
In the new product test held at the Korea University of Technology and Technology on the 9th, the electrode temperature of the 120-watt (W) module is about 70 degrees Celsius. Compared with other companies' 60-watt modules, the power is not half of the product. The temperature is as high as 150 degrees Celsius.
Relevant operators in South Korea said that COHS technology was commercialized soon, and the market reaction was quite noticeable. Compared with general LED products, the product has excellent heat dissipation and is suitable for lighting products.
