China's LED market quickly launched global industry giants to pay close attention

Recently, the "2009 LED Industry Development International Cooperation Forum" co-sponsored by the Economic Information Department of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the China Trade News Agency was held in Beijing. The guests at the meeting conducted an in-depth analysis and discussion on the outstanding problems faced by the LED industry in terms of technology, patents, standards and applications.


China's LED industry has entered the stage of independent research and development and innovation, forming a relatively complete industrial chain structure and a model of integration of production, education and research. In today's severe economic situation, it still shows an upward trend. As a representative of new energy, LED lighting is the leader in upgrading the traditional industrial structure and driving the development of related industries. Its broad market prospects should not be underestimated. The continuous improvement of LED semiconductor lighting technology and the expansion of application in new fields have brought continuous positive influence to the industry.


However, the "Semiconductor Lighting Industry Development Opinions" issued by the six ministries and commissions in September this year clearly pointed out that although China's semiconductor lighting energy-saving industry has made positive progress, it still faces many problems that need to be solved urgently: patents and core technologies are lacking, and the industry as a whole The level is low, the standards and testing systems have not been established, and the low level of blind investment is serious. Liu Shiping, deputy secretary-general of the China Lighting Society and director of the Semiconductor Lighting Technology and Application Committee of the China Lighting Society, hopes that leaders and governments at all levels should actively organize the development of the semiconductor lighting industry while focusing on the keynote speech of the 2009 LED Industry Development International Cooperation Forum. We will conscientiously solve the above-mentioned problems that need to be solved urgently, and scientifically and rigorously address the challenges of solid-state lighting to ensure the healthy and orderly development of China's semiconductor lighting energy-saving industry.


The rapid launch of China's LED market has also received close attention from global industry giants. CREE announced that it will build a chip factory in Huizhou, SimEL eds to set up a chip factory in Nanhai, and Epistar to set up a chip factory in Dalian. Nichia said that it will set up a factory in China as soon as possible. Global industry giants have entered the Chinese LED upstream chip industry in a big way, and the competitive pressure will be even greater for LED chip companies that are still in the development stage in China. At the same time, talent shortage is one of the most prominent problems in China's semiconductor lighting industry. The entry of international giants will further aggravate the shortage of talents.


According to the statistics of semiconductor lighting engineering research and development and industry alliance, in 2008, the output value of LED chips in China increased by 26% to 1.9 billion yuan, the industrial level of power chips reached 90lm/W-100lm/W, and the research level reached 100lm/W-110lm/W. In the substrate preparation, epitaxial growth, chip technology and other aspects have mastered a number of technologies with independent intellectual property rights, such as Si substrate chip light efficiency of 70lm / W. The localization rate of the chip reached 49%, and it entered the middle and high-end application fields, and the domestic chips in the display field accounted for more than 50%. In 2008, the output value of LED packaging reached 18.5 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 10%. The product structure gradually improved, and the proportion of high-brightness products reached 76%. Small-scale, multi-batch production capacity is at the international advanced level, such as miner's lamp, landscape lamp and other special needs LED packaging products. The high-power packaging level of some enterprises is in sync with the international first-class level. However, the annual sales of domestic packaging enterprises exceeds 100 million yuan, and 80% of enterprises are less than 10 million yuan. In 2008, the application value of LED applications was 45 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 50%. With the success of major demonstration projects such as the Olympic Games, China's LED applications have risen against the market under the international financial crisis. It can be said that our production capacity is leading globally and the technical level has also improved significantly, but we have not yet formed an international brand. Large traditional lighting companies began to transform into LED lighting, such as Ningbo Liaoyuan, Jiangsu Shifu, Zhejiang Shenghui, Shanghai Yaming and so on. More than ten domestic enterprises have become internationally renowned branded product foundries (ODM), and their product design and production technology are at the forefront of the world, and their products are global. However, the operation and marketing system of independent brands is still not perfect, and there is no brand enterprise with global influence.
