China accelerates standardization of LED lamps

In recent years, China's semiconductor lighting industry and technology have developed rapidly, and standardization work has become more and more urgent. In particular, China has become a major international semiconductor lighting manufacturer, and the standardization of LED lighting products has been relatively backward. In contrast, the United States is promoting a series of semiconductor lighting product standards with the help of projects such as Energy Star, and its influence is gradually expanding. If this situation continues to develop, China's semiconductor lighting manufacturing industry will fall into the passive situation of "products are self-made, standards are determined by others." Under this circumstance, in recent years, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Standards Commission and other relevant departments have begun to accelerate the development of national standards for LED products.

Promoting energy-efficient lighting is an important measure for energy conservation, environmental pollution reduction and climate change in various countries in the past half century. Due to the obvious energy-saving advantages of semiconductor lighting, it has become an indisputable application of green energy-saving lighting in the 21st century and has been rapidly developed. According to the statistics released by the National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&D and Industry Alliance, the output value of LEDs for lighting in China has reached 7.5 billion yuan in 2009. Faced with the huge business opportunities and encouraging development prospects of the semiconductor lighting industry, countries are actively formulating relevant standards for LED lighting fixtures, with a view to gaining a head start in the new round of technological innovation in energy-saving lighting products.

In this regard, Pan Zhigen, chairman of Hangzhou Yuanfang Optoelectronic Information Co., Ltd. said that in terms of standardization work in the field of semiconductor white light illumination (or general semiconductor lighting), China started not too late. Since the launch of the National Semiconductor Lighting Project by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2003, a large number of experts from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Lighting Standardization Technical Committee, the National Semiconductor Device Standardization Technical Committee, and various testing organizations have actively engaged in this work. The top-level design of the National Semiconductor Lighting Standard. At present, China's semiconductor lighting standards have formed a certain foundation in terms of testing terms, nouns and measurement methods, and are basically in sync with the progress levels of countries and regions such as the United States, Europe, Japan and Korea. However, the current China is not only a major application country in the field of semiconductor lighting, but also a major producer of semiconductor lighting terminal products. Therefore, it is urgent to formulate relatively complete specifications for LED lighting products. However, in this aspect of standardization work, China has gradually fallen behind the United States. At present, the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the Ministry of Environmental Protection (EPA) are using the “Energy Star” project to vigorously promote product standards that are suitable for them. Under the attraction of US technology advantages and huge markets, its influence is gradually expanding. If this situation continues to develop, China's semiconductor lighting manufacturing industry will fall into the passive situation of "products are self-made, standards are determined by others." If you want to catch up, you will need a longer period, so it is very urgent to speed up the standardization work.

Under this circumstance, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the National Standardization Administration Committee have begun to accelerate the standardization of LED lighting product specifications. In 2008, 2009 and 2010, four LEDs related to GB 19651.3, GB 24819 and GB 19510.14 were released. The mandatory national standards for lamps and the recommended national standards for LED lamps, such as GB/T 24823, GB/T 24824 and GB/T 24825. These standards cover LED modules, self-ballasted LED lamps, controllers for LED modules, connector performance and safety requirements for LED modules, LED test methods for general lighting, and LED lamp and LED performance requirements for decorative and road lighting. These standards provide a strong basis for the standardized production and safety certification of LED light sources, which is conducive to the rapid and healthy growth of the LED industry.

GB 24819-2009 "Safety requirements for LED modules for general lighting", GB 19510.14-2009 "Control devices for lamps - Part 14: Particular requirements for DC or AC electronic control devices for LED modules" GB 19651.3 —2008 “Miscellaneous lamp holders Part 2-2: Special requirements for connectors for LED modules” is equivalent to the corresponding IEC standard; “Safety requirements for self-ballasted LED lights above 50V for general lighting” and latest before 2009 The technical content of the IEC 62560 version is identical, which facilitates the export of products and international certification. In accordance with the actual situation of China, the national standard GB/T 24825-2009 "Digital or AC electronic control device performance requirements for LED modules" has been revised IEC 62384, "Test methods for LED modules for general lighting" is not equivalent to the use of CIE 127 :2007, other standards are independently formulated by China.
