The 7-axis robot independently developed by Fangde Robot is designed to mimic the movement of a human arm, featuring seven joints that allow for complex bending and folding. This advanced design significantly enhances flexibility, boosting operational efficiency by up to 30% while minimizing the risk of surface damage to workpieces. At the groundbreaking ceremony for major city projects on March 7, Huang Zhenmin, Executive Deputy General Manager of Fangde Robot, shared these details with reporters, emphasizing that such technology was previously dominated by foreign companies like ABB and KUKA.
To support the growing demand in the automotive and home appliance industries, Fangde Group has allocated 100 million yuan to establish a new branch in the Wuhan Development Zone. This facility will provide stamping and welding automation solutions, with an estimated annual sales revenue of 50 million yuan. The company, which went public on the New Third Board in 2016, is based in Jinan and now sees Wuhan as a strategic hub for expanding into Central China.
In collaboration with Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Fangde has set up a joint R&D center to further develop its mechanical automation lines. These systems are capable of fully replacing imported alternatives, helping clients cut costs by approximately 30%. Before finalizing their decision, the team visited Shanghai and Chongqing, but it was Wuhan’s massive market potential that ultimately attracted them. They conducted eight field trips to the Junshan Industrial Park, carefully evaluating factors such as transportation and environment before choosing to settle there and expand across Central China.
“The development zone offered us ready-made workshops and office spaces, allowing us to simply decorate and move in immediately—like a ‘package deal.’†Huang Zhenmin noted that building a factory from scratch would have taken another year, and the market couldn’t afford such delays. After settling in Wuhan, the development zone actively facilitated partnerships. The company has already established strategic cooperation with a local mold manufacturer, aiming to jointly advance stamping integration technology.
“Our headquarters is in Jinan, and we used to face a time difference issue with our customers,†Huang said. “Now, after moving to Wuhan, the time difference has been significantly reduced, broadening our customer base.†He added that Wuhan’s four-hour high-speed rail circle covers a large area, making it easier to connect with car manufacturers and their suppliers in the development zone. Ninety percent of Fangde’s customers are automotive companies, and this location offers better access to vehicles and components.
According to reports, Fangde plans to collaborate with Dongfeng Honda and Shenlong Company within three years, aiming to become the leading provider of robot automation equipment in China.
This story highlights how Fangde Robot’s self-developed 7-axis system is not only technologically advanced but also economically viable, offering a strong alternative to imported solutions. As the company continues to grow and expand, it is setting a new standard in the robotics industry.
