Recently, Qipan Microelectronics introduced a one-line pulse counting dimming method, a six-channel adaptive charge pump type LED driver CP2160, which is a common cathode 1x/1.5x adaptive charge pump type LED driver. It allows for a wide range of supply voltages and is especially suitable for lithium battery powered devices. The CP2160 sets the LED current through an internal resistor that can be as high as 25mA per channel. The CP2160 adaptively switches between the two operating modes depending on the supply voltage and load, improving efficiency. At the same time, the unique current automatic mirroring technology is adopted, so that the current matching degree of the LED does not change with the conduction voltage drop of the LED. The CP2160 uses a one-line pulse count dimming method. By applying a pulse signal to the enable pin, the LED current can be adjusted in 32 steps. The CP2160 requires only two 1μF input and output capacitors and two 1μF charge pump capacitors. Superior circuit control features ensure low power supply surge current and EMI. The CP2160 has a shutdown mode with a shutdown current of less than 0.1μA.
