EDC, or Every Day Carry, refers to the items you carry with you daily—like your phone, a folding knife, a flashlight, some cash, and even survival essentials. Some people carry alcohol, fire starters, pens and paper, mirrors, rain gear, medications, USB drives, watches with compasses, altimeters, waterproof features (even solar-powered), backups of important data, and more. Others might include binoculars, night-vision goggles, throwing sticks, survival knives (with hooks, matches, etc.), insulated gloves, tear sprays, slingshots, saddle bags, service bags, wallets, and much more.
In the few years that Aunt Zhang has been diving into EDC, there have been countless hand-pickers. I’d like to thank the small editors and everyone who broke the news so I can keep going on this journey. I’ve seen many of my friends’ original EDC setups and I really enjoy seeing what everyone carries. You truly have a whole world inside your bag. Some people have two watches, others have a camera every day. I know everyone needs professional advice, but I’m not sinking. Have you seen the recent #turning contest? Is there a prize? I’m looking forward to it, though I know I probably won’t win. Yesterday, I had to change my bag, so I decided to enter the contest on a whim. It’s not flashy, but it's about recording life. The first time I wrote an original, I didn’t understand the rules and was a bit confused. I just made do with what I had, hahaha.
GUCCI Bag: Purchased at Tokyo Haneda Airport. This is a gift from Mr. Hussein for Chinese Valentine’s Day last year. I really like it—it's the right size, comes in various colors, and has long shoulder straps. I often buy it again because a friend brought it back from Japan. I don’t remember the exact price, but it was around 6,000 yen. Now, the hardware has faded, the edges are cracked, and the body is slightly deformed, but I still love it because it was given by someone I care about (Mr. Fan must see this sentence).
This is the same bag I was looking for on Jingdong. If any friends like it, check the item number:
2. Family Portrait of the Bag:
3. Haagen-Dazs Wallet (Card Pack): Purchased at Yansha Ole. I don’t know the brand, so I call it Haagen-Dazs. The surface is woven leather, and the price was likely over 200 yuan since it feels good to use. Later, I bought one for my sister as well. This pack has many card slots, a zipper on one side for bills and coins, and can hold large bills without any issue. Although mobile payments are convenient now, some merchants still require physical cards, so I use this when switching bags, especially in summer when I don’t want to carry big bags.
Here’s a Taobao link for a similar style, though I don’t know the brand:
4. Debao Tissue: Purchased from Jingdong Mall. On the left, when I bought it, it looked like it was imported, and felt cool. I used it mainly for colds, and it felt softer than regular tissues—maybe it's just psychological. I had several large packages, but they haven’t been fully used yet. On the right is the regular version, which I've found to be thicker over the years.
I don’t know why the imported version is no longer available on Jingdong, so here’s a link to the regular version instead:
5. Dior Powder (the blue box in the upper right corner of the family portrait): Purchased at a duty-free shop. I usually buy cosmetics at major duty-free stores because they’re cheaper than domestic counters. I don’t remember where I bought it, but it cost around 400 yuan. Its main purpose is to act as a mirror, occasionally applying powder. I think it will last a long time unless it breaks like previous powders. My landlord got injured and broke several pieces—my sisters know how painful that is.
Here’s a Jingdong link:
6. NUK Baby Wipes: Purchased from Jingdong Mall. Tissues should always be in your bag. These wipes are natural, and baby products feel safer to me. Wiping hands gives me more confidence. The price is around 3-4 yuan, and I usually buy them during events. They’re consumables, after all.
Here’s a Jingdong link:
7. Cotton Era Alcohol Disinfection Tablets: Purchased from Jingdong Supermarket. I sometimes feel the need to disinfect. I use these to wipe phones, e-books, and desks. I heard that supermarket shopping cart handles can be dirty even after the toilet, so I always disinfect when I go. Before using these tablets, I used wipes, though it may just be a comfort.
Here’s a Jingdong link, and it’s recommended to buy during discounts:
8. MUJI Cotton Swab Box: Purchased from MUJI store. At first, I didn’t pay attention to what the box was for, but I liked its size and bought it for about 10 yuan. Sometimes, when I'm out, I spend a lot of time on makeup, and it's easy to sweat. Especially with thick double eyelids, even if I paint a wide eyeliner, it can be invisible on one eye, which makes me dizzy. I also get drunk easily, so cotton swabs are essential, especially for eyeliner. Amway gave me this box, and it fits the size of the swabs. I don’t know why it looks dirty, but it's actually white and transparent.
Here’s a Taobao link:
9. Zeiss Glasses: Purchased from Sam’s Club. Both my husband and I are nearsighted, and we can’t wear contact lenses due to small eyes. So we both wear glasses all year round. Everyone with glasses knows how frustrating it is to have dirty lenses, and this cloth is perfect for cleaning them. When we were together, he would always clean them for me. This saves time. Please call us “small experts†at home, but it’s basically bought from Sam’s Club. If you find cheaper options, let me know. A box of 200 pieces costs about 48 yuan, and it’s great for cleaning glasses and computer screens. Amway gives it to everyone.
10. Apple 6S Plus: Purchased from the official website. Yes, I grabbed it early. After receiving the phone, I bought Apple Care, which extended the warranty by one year and offered a discount on a new one. I added 628 yuan within the two-year warranty period to get a new phone, although it’s still a 6S Plus, 128GB rose gold. I successfully saved a kidney, and the phone case is red skin, purchased from Wangfujing Apple Store, costing over 300 yuan. I don’t like it much, but it feels good. Less than a month later, it was already stained and almost black. It’s still useful for protecting the phone, after all, I’ve broken four iPhone 5s.
Here’s a cell phone Jingdong link, though it seems to be out of stock:
11. Mitsubishi Gel Pen: Purchased from Jingdong Mall. Carrying a pen is a habit I’ve had for a long time. When I was in school, I loved buying different pens. Now I have a drawer full of pens. This one costs about 5-6 yuan. I bought a box at Sam’s Club once, then lost it, so I bought three boxes at once on Jingdong to see if I could lose it again. The writing is smooth, the lid is tight, and it doesn’t leak. It’s economical and practical. If you lose it, you won’t feel bad. It’s suitable for people who write a lot. Of course, if you're writing a letter, it's just for signing.
Here’s a Jingdong link:
12. Silk Pouches: Sent by girlfriends. This intimate gift is only known to close friends. When I received it, I told them I could use it as a towel for my mother-in-law. So I always use it like that. I usually carry one for my needs. It has a zip, is clean, and can hold two or three thin ones, which is enough for everyday use. Small items are very useful.
I couldn’t find the same color, so here’s a Taobao link instead:
13. Putting these together, from left to right:
Shiseido Lip Balm: Brought back by a good friend in Japan, I don’t know the price or where it was bought. My husband has dry lips and uses it all year round, even at night. I give it to my lips as a small buddy.
Here’s a Jingdong link for clearer details:
Givenchy Lambskin 315: Purchased from Lotte Duty Free. For fall and winter, it's more like a deep rose red. Once a great wind blows, it's hard to find the color. The price was probably over 200 yuan. Lipstick is never too much for a woman—light matte, lip gloss. Once addicted to lipstick, I slowly realized I only needed a few. Now, I have many reasons to stop.
Here’s a Jingdong link, even though it's expensive:
Chanel Tube 214: Brought back by my cousin from Russia. I don’t remember the price. It's burgundy, silky texture, very moist, but not too long. I don't dare to take it in summer, afraid of melting. There are usually one or two lipsticks in the bag, and one is a bright spot.
Here’s a Jingdong link, still very expensive:
CANMAKE Lip Hydra Concealer: Purchased from Lotte Duty Free. The price was about 40-50 dollars. It helps cover lip lines and uneven color. With a moisturizing, transparent lipstick, applying this concealer first improves color accuracy and lipstick longevity. It’s a great little item.
Here’s a Jingdong link:
14. 3CE Lip Brush: Purchased from Lotte official site, then bought a set, so the price is unknown. This small black stick is in the middle of the family portrait. My lips aren’t very defined, and they’re a bit thin, so when I apply lipstick, I need to draw the contour. Before, I used lip liner, but sometimes the color didn’t match the lipstick. Now, this versatile brush is more convenient. I recommend trying it if you have similar issues.
Here’s the Jingdong link for the set. Other items were mostly discarded, leaving just the lip brush:
15. Hair Band & Iodine Swabs: I put these two together because the iodine swabs are unreliable, and I just wanted something to cover them.
Let’s talk about the hair band. Purchased from MUJI, it cost 35 yuan for 8 pieces. I remember clearly because when I bought it, the price tag said 20 yuan. I secretly thought it was a mistake, but finally, I returned it and ended up paying 35 yuan. The clerk confirmed the price tag was wrong and said the new tag hadn’t changed. There are usually one or two hair bands in almost every bag, and they often break from frequent use, making them a consumable item.
Here’s a Taobao link:
Chuang Clean Iodophor Cotton Swabs: Purchased from pharmacies, about 20 yuan per box. I bought several medicines together, so I don’t remember the exact price. I belong to the "female man" type, often getting injured without knowing how. This povidone-iodine stick is an emergency. It’s easy to disinfect wounds and is hygienic. I still carry band-aids, but I forgot to bring them today.
Here’s a Jingdong link:
16. Watson Dental Floss: Purchased from Watsons Store, about 10 yuan per box. My husband has large teeth, so this is a must-have. Individual packaging is convenient and hygienic, and it’s a household staple. Amway gives it to everyone.
After taking the photo, I realized I should remove the package and take another picture. I took another one to show everyone that I was wasting dental floss. You might say there’s no waste, but you can use it. Ah, but what I want to say is that today I didn’t eat meat and didn’t use it at all.
17. Ou Dili Grape Seed Hand Cream: Sent by girlfriends, price unknown. For me, it’s light and thin, ideal for summer, with a nice scent. My husband said my dry skin needed hand cream all year, and it’s been raining recently. Today, it’s sunny, so I used it temporarily. In a few days, I’ll switch to autumn/winter cream. If anyone has recommendations for super-dry skin protection, I’m happy to try. You won’t understand the pain of dry fingers that don’t recognize fingerprints.
Here’s a Jingdong link:
18. Bulgari Amethyst Perfume: Bought as part of a four-in-one set from Saipan DFS, price unknown. I like this sweet scent, described as a wooden floral note. It’s really good, only 5ml. Before, I bought large bottles, thinking they were more cost-effective, but once they weren’t used up, they became toilet sprays, car sprays, etc. Since I’m not a woman who sprays perfume every day, I only use it when I remember. I rarely use it now. There are still two large bottles in the cabinet that are unopened. Will they expire?
Here’s a Jingdong link, like my set, with bad news:
19. Car Keys: Ordinary family car, purchased in 2010, my first car. I didn’t change the marriage, and it has taken me through many places, now over 130,000 kilometers. I plan to keep it until it breaks, because I’m the only one (actually because I have no money), hahaha. I want to introduce this keychain, which is a leather zipper on a package. When the last keychain broke, I wanted to buy a BV one, but the guy didn’t let me. I lost it and found it in the drawer after two or three years. It was quite good. Sometimes a small tail was exposed in the bag, making it easy to find. Some things aren’t necessarily expensive, but they must suit themselves.
Finally finished, just by hand. I know everything isn’t easy. Seeing others' originals feels relaxed, but after taking photos myself, I realize sharing life through Aunt Zhang’s original work (cheat gold coins) isn’t easy. Afterwards, we must cherish everyone’s original works and actively reward them. We definitely won’t allow expired silver to expire. . .
If you’ve read this far, I’ll send you an ending egg. Did you hear that real beasts can score extra points? Or can you add gold coins? Then I’ll come to a bar ~ ~ ~ please ask the officer to bring their own quick rescue pill!
If you can’t see clearly, purchase the above-mentioned Zeiss spectacles paper, and wipe the glasses, mobile, or computer screen! Hahaha... thanks for watching!!!
