With the increasing requirements of the automobile manufacturing industry for indicators such as welding accuracy and speed, and the increasing personalization needs of users, in order to meet the market demand of multiple models and multiple batches, the flexibility and flexibility of the production capacity of the body shop can be improved. Industrial robots have been widely used in body welding. This paper introduces the application of spot welding robot and arc welding robot system in body welding with examples.

The structure and craft of the car body largely determine the safety factor of the ride. The body body is a complex thin plate structural member made up of more than a dozen large assemblies and hundreds of thin plate stamping parts, which are connected by spot welding, arc welding, laser welding, brazing, riveting, mechanical connection and bonding. Due to the many parts involved in the body-in-white, complicated processes and various types of equipment, the body planning has high requirements for welding processes, welding fixtures , quality control and maintenance. This paper focuses on the application of spot welding robot system and arc welding robot system in body welding.

[Spot welding robot system]

The quality of the body spot welding directly affects the strength and safety of the car body. Spot welding equipment is the most widely used in the production of automobile bodies due to its ease of mechanization, low cost, mature technology and complete supporting facilities. Nowadays, the complete automation of the spot welding process has become a trend. The robot spot welding system has been widely used and is gradually replacing manual spot welding.

1. Pneumatic spot welding robot system

The pneumatic spot welding robot system includes a robot body, a robot controller , a spot welding controller, an automatic electrode dressing machine, a pneumatic spot welding tong and a water gas control unit for water and gas supply, as shown in FIG. 1 .

As the actuator of the spot welding robot, the pneumatic welding tongs generally adopts the integrated welding tongs, that is, the welding transformer is installed behind the welding tongs, which reduces the loss of the secondary cable and improves the welding quality. Due to the use of integrated welding tongs, the transformer must be miniaturized to increase the payload of the robot. For the transformer with large capacity, the intermediate frequency inverter technology has been adopted: the 50Hz power frequency AC is changed to 600~1000Hz AC and rectified, so that the volume of the transformer is reduced and reduced.

The electrode assembly of the pneumatic welding tongs is basically similar to the manual welding welding tongs, and the contact with the workpiece and the electric welding are completed. In order to reduce the cost of maintenance and modification, the welding tongs assembly has a modular tendency. The spot welding robot has stable and reliable action and high repeatability, which can replace the heavy physical labor of people, improve the welding quality and improve the flexibility of the production line.

In 2009, SAIC Passenger Vehicle Company Nanjing Base built a new 100,000 Roewe 350 series sedan AP11 welding production line. The line introduced 49 six-axis pneumatic spot welding robots from Japan FANUC, which was applied to the assembly welding of the body assembly welding station, side wall assembly and body body with high technical requirements.

After the successful construction of the main AP11 main line, SAIC Motor Vehicle Company Nanjing Base introduced 10 sets of spot welding robots from Japan FANUC Company for the production of MG5 models on the basis of AP11 in 2011, for the AP12 main line of 60,000 production capacity. In the above, the application is applied to the assembly welding of the body assembly welding station, the side wall components, the side wall assembly and the body body of the vehicle body assembly with high process quality requirements.

Different from the original AP11 main line, the AP12 main welding line and the AP11 line are all shared, which fully meets the requirements of flexible mixed line production, and realizes a fully flexible production mode with short-time switching or no switching. In order to save construction costs and site, we have transformed a robot on most of the production lines into two or more welding tongs or gripping tools. The automatic tool changer can quickly switch between the welding tongs.
