Countdown to China's Video Game Circles: What's Piracy?

The era of the proliferation of pirated CDs has declined, and China’s video games have opened a new page. However, the issue of piracy still exists. The cracking method and “bags” method have begun to enter the battle. The video game circle has revived the “infringement” voice.

In the Chinese market, pirated products are not uncommon. The bottom line is rooted in the weak copyright consciousness of the people. In the video game market, people often encounter works that are “swrapped.” So what exactly is “bags”?

"Poor" is not a reason for piracy

TV game development cycle is relatively long, to produce a boutique at least six months to a year, which means that video game development should invest more manpower, material resources and financial resources.

Moreover, the video game industry has yet to break out. It is not favored by capital. TV vendors focus on video games are not prosperous, and they do not have enough financial resources to support them to carry out a large number of independent research and development. This has led to the current lack of such games.

It is difficult for a clever woman to be free of rice, so many halls fill the game by transplanting mobile games, but the effect is not good. Because video games are different from mobile games in terms of scenes and gameplay, it is difficult for mobile gamers to make breakthroughs in these two points. There is no video game that distinguishes it from mobile games. Naturally, it will not be recognized by users.

Poor thinking changes, and the "ambition" manufacturers embarked on the road of self-study, trying to open up the market through the development of some good games. Some companies that are quick to gain instant profit have even embarked on the road to piracy, either cracking games or stealing games. Miyou COO Li Ming believes that the current situation is that the main reason is that companies do not have the funds to invest in R&D. They can only steal the ball, steal or mimic IP, and even crack the game.

Regarding the behavior of pirated games, Yu Gang, the director of LeTV's video game business, has a different view. He thinks, “If you really look at the video game industry, you want to find a way to raise money, and you can finally stick to it. You have no money to eat. If you can't steal meat, you can't go grab it. Poor is not a reason."

Do you count piracy?

At present, people in the industry are controversial about whether “sugar bags” count as piracy.

Some CPs hate this. Gong Jingyi, the founder of Shengjian Network, stated that IPTV products with good income will be pirated, and OTTs will be the same. There are some halls that rely on this barbaric development to capture financing. These are all driven by self-interest, and all that can be harmed are the budding video game industry.

Yu Gang has unique insights on "bags." He believes that bag and piracy are two different things. Only in the case of exclusive agency, the bag is regarded as piracy. And "CP doesn't reject the packs. Isn't the packs worthy of the game?"

In the end, what is the piracy behavior? China Electronics Technology interviewed Liu Yinliang, deputy director of the Institute of Intellectual Property Law at the China University of Political Science and Law. He said that as long as the game is not authorized, it is infringement.

The obsession behavior not only infringed the rights and interests of developers, but also caused harm to users and undermined the ecology of the video game industry. If left unchecked, the video game industry will be chaotic. Cai Wenyan, China Telecom’s love game business manager, stated that he must be genuine and that piracy is a harm to developers and that their labor achievements are not properly respected.

More importantly, "piracy hurts the user. The source code of the cracker cannot be adapted to the model, making certain features or screens of the game missing. The quality and experience of the game cannot be guaranteed. Free piracy games with a large number of banners are mixed with a lot of ads and destroy the entire game."

In fact, in the early stages of the development of the game industry, bag-packing did not bring much effective traffic to the CP. For the game lobby, traffic is life. Some halls increase user traffic by grabbing some high-quality games, and circulate money with traffic.

In response to this approach, Yu Gang said that he did not dare to agree, he said, "A lot of halls are just trying to put in some pirated games, first do user traffic, and use user traffic to circulate money. If it is purely to use money to make money, I think Even if he is pirated, he can't do it eventually."

Start anti-piracy measures

As piracy spreads in the video game industry, more and more manufacturers are beginning to realize the importance of self-protection. Some seek breakthroughs in technology, some slamming the law, and some advocate industry self-discipline.

Recently, China Telecom Love Games has taken the lead in launching Android-side game-paying downloads, and has performed secondary encryption and protection of video games to protect the interests of developers from the technical point of view. It is understood that some platforms are also carrying out similar anti-piracy technology.

However, LeTV has not yet considered this method. Yu Gang said that Le Shi anti-theft version of the litigation system is perfect, Le Shi is more inclined to use legal means, the use of hundreds of law firms across the country to counterattack piracy. Gong Jingyi, on the other hand, placed his hopes on self-discipline in the industry, and he hoped that the channels could pay attention to genuine and maintain the orderly development of the industry.

To grow and expand an industry, we must have a certain standard. If piracy is rampant, the video game industry is hard to rise. Faced with the phenomenon of video game piracy, Yu Gang expressed his deep concern: "Why support genuine? If we all support piracy, game developers cannot survive, the industry will die."
