Recently, Japan's largest home appliance manufacturer Matsushita said that in the next two years, the company plans to double the production capacity of LED lighting to meet the market demand for energy-saving equipment.
Yoshio Ito, president of Panasonic Lighting, said that sales of Japanese LED lights will likely increase by 64% in the next fiscal year. He said, "If the production capacity is not doubled, we will not be able to achieve the expected target," and Panasonic also plans to increase the sales of lighting in markets outside Japan.
At present, Panasonic has LED lighting production plants in China and Indonesia, with an annual production capacity of 6 million. Matsushita expects its lighting division revenue to increase by 43% (100 million online purchase price) to 100 billion yen ($1.2 billion) by March 2013.
