Recently, China Electronic Video Industry Association officially released the China Smart TV industry standard led by Hisense Electric Co., Ltd. This means that for the first time, smart TV, the most concerned color TV category, has a clear standard specification and uniform technical requirements.
In the past two years, smart TVs have rapidly become popular, occupying half of the color TV market. However, due to the inconsistency of smart TV standards, users have no choice in the concept of “smart TVs†in the market; the inconsistency of smart TV interface standards has hindered many applications. With the entry of developers, it is difficult to form an effective business model; the inconsistency of standards has led to duplication of software development and waste of resources, which have seriously hampered the healthy development of smart TVs.
The establishment of China's smart TV standards was officially launched in November 2011 by the China Electronics Industry Association. Hisense, as the director unit of the China Video Industry Association Standards Committee, takes the lead in the drafting and development of smart TV standards. After more than two years of discussion and demonstration, the first Chinese smart TV standard was finalized. The standards include: Smart TV Master Specification, Smart TV Operating System Specification, Platform and Third-Party Application Interface Specification, Human-Computer Interaction Technology Specification, and Intelligence Six technical specifications, including TV application store specifications and smart TV system security technical specifications, were formally released on January 15.
As the lead drafter of China's smart TV standard, Hisense first built a complete smart TV industry chain from cloud to terminal. In smart TV technology and market, Hisense is the industry leader. Hisense's new K600 and K680 series of VIDAA TVs, which were newly launched in 2013, have received the first "Smart TV" standard certification.
