In the afternoon, a customer brought in a 22-inch TPV monitor and said, "No power. How much will it cost to fix?" I connected the monitor to the power supply, but the panel indicator didn’t light up at all. My first thought was that the power board might be damaged. The customer mentioned that others had charged him only 120 yuan for a board replacement, so he wanted me to change the board instead of repairing it.
I told him, “I only do repairs, not replacements. It’s not just about brown-green-brown. If you want to fix it, leave your number. I’ll call you if it’s fixed, and you can come pick it up if it isn’t.†He reluctantly left his contact information.
After opening the back cover, I removed the power board and tested the 320V filter capacitor on both sides. The output voltages—5V and 12V—were normal. But there was no indicator light on the panel. Could the motherboard be faulty? I disconnected the motherboard and checked the input voltage, which was 5V. The 3.3V regulator also looked good. Then I moved to the button board.
Testing the standby button, there was no voltage at either end. I measured the resistance of the button with the power off, and it was only 20 ohms. I removed the button and tested the board again, but it still showed a short circuit. I unplugged the control board and checked the black-orange, black-red, and 3.3V pins on the motherboard. When I reconnected the control board, the black-orange pin had no voltage. The keypad only had a few resistors, some buttons, and a three-legged indicator. Maybe the problem was at the connection point.
After turning off the power, I re-soldered the five wire connections and cleaned the gaps with my fingers. Then I tested the standby button again, and the short circuit was gone! I reinstalled the button, powered it on, and the indicator lit up. Pressing the standby button turned the screen on.
Finally, I applied 703 glue to the five soldered joints and did a full system test. Everything worked normally. I called the customer to come and pick up the monitor. I also attached the program file for this model to share with everyone.
