Once the richest man in China, Jia Yueting, found himself in financial trouble and was even targeted by debt collectors, he refused to give up. His hope was pinned on the Faraday Future FF91, and at CES 2018, the car made a comeback.
Compared to the high-profile debut last year, this year’s FF91 appeared much more low-key. However, according to a test drive conducted by Tencent Technology, the interior space of the vehicle is impressive—measuring 5.25 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and with a wheelbase of 3.2 meters, especially the rear seating area offers a lot of legroom.

In terms of driving performance, the FF91 is nothing short of powerful. The tested unit is a four-wheel-drive model, equipped with three motors under the chassis that deliver a total of 1,000 horsepower. It also features a 150 kWh battery with an estimated range of around 380 miles. The focus of the experience was clearly on acceleration and handling. Official data shows that the FF91 can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.39 seconds, making it one of the fastest electric vehicles on the market.
As this was a test vehicle, there was almost no interior trim visible inside. Also, the autonomous driving technology that was showcased last year was not demonstrated this time. According to the company, this year’s FF91 has undergone fine-tuning, resulting in more stable acceleration and improved overall performance. This was the main focus of the test drive.
Another important point to note is that according to Faraday Future officials, the company is now prioritizing the delivery of the FF91 as quickly as possible. They plan to begin delivering the vehicle by the end of 2018, marking a crucial step forward for the brand after years of delays and financial struggles.
