Lenovo officially broke into the smart phone market in India On November 2, 2012, according to relevant news reports, on November 1, Lenovo released five smartphones on the Indian market, marking the company's formal entry into this market.

Lenovo's five mobile phones are based on Android-based operating system, the price between 6499 rupees (about 755 yuan) to 28,499 rupees (about 3312 yuan).

According to reports, Lenovo is already the second-ranked smartphone maker in the Chinese market, with a share of 11.2%. The company hopes to have a similar performance in the Indian market. Lenovo mobile phones are designed and produced based on Google's Android platform and so far they are only available in the Chinese and Indian markets.

At the press conference, Amar Babu, general manager of Lenovo India, stated that “grabbing into the smart phone market is rooted in the Lenovo PC+ 4-screen strategy. Smart phones are a key part of the 4-screen strategy.”

For Lenovo, entering the Indian market is one of the latest good news. Market research firm Gartner analysts released a report last month saying that Lenovo has surpassed HP to become the world's largest PC maker.

JD Howard, vice president of the Lenovo MIDH (Mobile Internet Digital Home) Group, said that India is a priority market for Lenovo. At present, the smart phone market in India is in a rapid development stage.

According to foreign media reports last week, Lenovo has recently entered the smart phone market in the Philippines and Vietnam, these markets will become part of the company's overall strategy.
