This smart tape uses pressure-sensitive film as a key sensing component, allowing it to be integrated seamlessly with standard packaging materials. The design relies on a passive dynamic response mechanism, which ensures low power consumption while maintaining reliable performance. Once activated, the sensor transmits data via 4G networks to a cloud-based system, enabling real-time monitoring and management of shipments. Zhang Wanrong, head of the Department of Electronic Engineering at Nantai University, explained that the tape-based sensor eliminates the need for additional procedures, allowing staff to continue working in their usual way while still benefiting from package tracking capabilities. By combining technologies such as low-power design, NFC, and wireless communication, logistics providers can now monitor large volumes of goods efficiently and effectively. This system not only enhances parcel security during delivery but also opens up new possibilities for value-added services in warehousing. For instance, it could be used to manage encrypted documents, secure storage, or even protect sensitive enterprise data. As the logistics industry continues to evolve, this innovation represents a significant step forward in making supply chains smarter, safer, and more efficient.
