Recently, RUSNANO Director Anatoly Chubais, ONEXIMGroup President Mikhail Prokhorov and UOMP Director Sergey Maksin signed a document on behalf of their respective companies. This is a document on the Russian lighting program to create a high-tech industrial production system for the next generation of new general lighting based on GaN semiconductor chips. The end products are LED chips, LED lights and lighting systems that are comparable in brightness to today's best fixtures. The small number of defects in the semiconductor layer within the LED allows the device to lose efficiency at high density currents.
The unique chip production technology will be created by the German-Finnish joint venture OptoGAN, a student of the Nobel Laureate and a member of RASZhores Alferov. The establishment of this joint venture is to return the most promising Russian projects to Russia. Heterogeneous structure growth will take place in the special economic zone of Saint-Petersburg, where LED chips, LED lights and lighting products are assembled in Yekaterinburg and parts of the lighting are handed over to UOMP.
The company invested 177.6 million rubles in the project, of which 323 million were rents and 145.3 million rubles were loans. RUSNANO's assets account for 17% of the joint venture, UOMP accounts for 33%-1, and ONEXIMGroup's share will reach 50%+1 shares. By 2013, the annual income is expected to reach 6 billion rubles.
